Enogtjue: bitcoin trading volume in Norway, collected every day

How much bitcoin is actually traded in Norway? Enogtjue collects trading data from Norwegian exchanges and makes it available to everyone. Schjønhaug AS built the platform — from data collection in Go to the website and automated daily summaries.

Enogtjue: bitcoin trading volume in Norway, collected every day

There are several Norwegian bitcoin exchanges, but no shared overview of how much is actually traded in kroner. Enogtjue wanted to give both the industry and individuals an honest picture of the Norwegian market — day by day, and over time.

Data collection in Go

At the core is a set of workers written in Go. Every ten minutes they fetch orders from Norwegian exchanges and store them in PostgreSQL via GORM. A daily job aggregates the trades into volume per exchange, in both bitcoin and kroner, and calculates comparisons with the previous day, the same weekday, and the 30-day average.

Other jobs collect data used for comparisons on the website, such as the prices of goods and assets measured in bitcoin. All jobs run as short-lived containers scheduled by cron, and send an alert if a run fails.

API, website, and daily summaries

An internal API in Go and Fiber serves volume data to the rest of the solution. The website is built with Next.js, is available in Norwegian and English, and shows daily volume, market share, and trends over time. Every morning, a separate service posts a summary of the previous day’s trading on X, with charts generated automatically from the same data.

Simple, dependable operations

The whole solution runs on a single VPS with Docker Compose and Caddy as a reverse proxy with automatic HTTPS. Data collection has run continuously since 2023, and the dataset now covers more than a thousand trading days.
